Indian Mujahideen Operative Shahzad Ahmad Passes Away at AIIMS

Shahzad Ahmad, an Indian Mujahideen operative, passed away while receiving treatment at AIIMS in Delhi on today. Ahmad had been convicted in the 2008 Batla House encounter case for the murder of Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and the assault of other officers. According to prison officials, Ahmad had been receiving treatment for an illness at the hospital. An investigation into the cause of death is currently ongoing.

Delhi court sentenced Shahzad Ahmed, a suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist, to life imprisonment for his role in the 2008 Batla House encounter. Ahmed was convicted of killing police officer M C Sharma and injuring two other officers during the encounter. The incident, which took place in the Batla House neighborhood of Delhi, was considered one of the most significant anti-terror operations in India at the time.
