Delhi Capitals beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets in Match 50
Chennai didn’t get off to a good start with the ball, but they always seem to find a way to come back when things aren’t going their way. When things became difficult, they performed well to grab wickets and push Delhi back. They were put under pressure early on, but they were able to take wickets on a consistent basis. Shardul Thakur’s 15th over felt like the game-changing one, as he got two wickets, including the crucial one of Dhawan, but they were unable to win the game. Ravindra Jadeja had a fantastic day, bowling brilliantly and taking two wickets. Thakur finished with a 4-0-13-2 record, coming up when his team needed him the most.
Prithvi Shaw was trying to attack as Delhi got off to a terrific start, but he did not last long. In the third over, he lost his wicket, and Dhawan and Iyer helped to bring things back to normal before Iyer gave his wicket away. Ripal Patel, Pant’s debutant, played some useful innings and put together some nice stands with Dhawan, but he didn’t stick around for long. With the players Delhi had in their ranks, the fact that Dhawan was still alive, and the icing on the cake, the fact that the total was not a large one, you’d assume they’d cross the line. However, Delhi slipped from 93/3 to 99/6 and lost Dhawan, putting them under pressure. Shimron Hetmyer and Axar Patel were tasked with carrying the game to the final over, but Patel fell. It didn’t matter since Rabada hit the game-winning runs and led his side across the final line.
