Reason behind this is not taking warning given by the Indian government seriously.
Actually, these social media giants got notice by the Centre of Government of India with a warning.
On February 25, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITy) had given a 3-month deadline to all social media platforms to comply with the new rules set by Indian government.
The rules include appointment of compliance officials, giving their name and contact address in India, complaint resolution, monitoring of objectionable content, compliance report and removal of objectionable content.
But till now, these giants didn’t accepted and followed guidelines given by Indian government which can result in their ban.
