There is good news for the country’s millions of farmers. On the occasion of the new year, Prime Minister Modi has offered a large gift to the country’s farmers. Central Government deposited the 10th payment of the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan Yojana) to farmers’ accounts today. Under the PM-Kisan scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed the tenth installment of Rs 20,900 crore to 10.09 crore farmers on Saturday.
PM distributed this money through video conference to the recipients of a programme. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme provides eligible farmers with the yearly financial support of Rs 6,000. This money is distributed to the farmers in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each in their bank accounts.
PM Modi also announced today that 351 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) will get an equity award of about Rs 14 crore through a virtual initiative. It will give benefit to a total of 1.24 lakh farmers. Virtually, nine state chief ministers, ministers from several states, and leaders from agricultural institutes took part in this programme.
According to Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, an amount of Rs 20,900 crore transferred to the accounts of 10.09 crore beneficiaries. He further said the PM-Kisan initiative established to assist the government in its efforts to double farmer income.
PM Kisan’s ninth installment was previously released in August of 2021. So far, 1.8 lakh crore rupees have been made accessible to farmers under this scheme, following today’s announcement. The PM-Kisan programme was announced in the February 2019 budget. The first installment was released in December 2018 and covered the months of December 2018 to March 2019.
