In a major development, Ratan Tata and Airbus have signed a deal for the purchase of 250 aircraft from the French major aircraft manufacturer. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron were present in the meeting which was conducted through video conferencing, and the deal was sealed in their presence.

The agreement includes 40 wide-body A-350 aircraft and 210 narrow-body aircraft, with an option to increase the order. This historic agreement has opened new opportunities in aerospace manufacturing under India’s “Make in India – Make for the World” vision. Modi congratulated Air India-Airbus and expressed his gratitude to Macron for attending the meeting.

He also highlighted that India could become a hub for maintenance and repair in the aviation sector in the region. With the Indian aviation sector requiring over 2000 aircraft in the next 15 years, this deal is set to transform the aviation industry in India.
