Kolkata win by 7 wicket against Mumbai

What a high-speed chase we’ve just witnessed! The bats from Kolkata made the chase appear so simple. In Abu Dhabi, it was raining sixes. Now, in the second leg, Kolkata has won two games in a row and has snatched some critical points on their way to the playoffs.

After being put to bat earlier in the game. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock, Mumbai’s opening partnership, got the team off to a flying start. However, once Rohit Sharma was out, the runs dried up for them as well. Kolkata kept chipping away at Mumbai’s wickets at regular intervals, limiting them to a total of 155.

Mumbai is having a bad day with the ball! In the early stages of the game, the bowlers were unable to trouble the hitters. Before the end of Powerplay, Bumrah got rid of Gill, but the bowling attack was unable to stop the run flow. Except for Bumrah, no other bowler made it into the wickets column. He went on to take two more wickets, but it was too late for Mumbai, as they were defeated again after the restart.

Kolkata has gotten off to a roaring start! Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer, the opening pair, continued where they left off in the previous game. For the hunt, they laid a solid framework. Gill was the first to leave, just as the Powerplay was coming to a close. Later, Rahul Tripathi and Venkatesh Iyer continued to smash the ball all over the field. Kolkata was 111-1 after 10 overs. Both hitters went on to score half-centuries, but Iyer was dismissed soon after. Morgan entered the game but did not last long, contributing only 7 runs to the chase. Finally, it was Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana who crossed the finish line for their team.

 Stats

— KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi smashed a half-century each to help the team clinch the match .
