American Singer Bobby Caldwell Passes Away at Age 71

Bobby Caldwell, a renowned American singer, songwriter, and musician, passed away on March 14, 2023, at the age of 71. Caldwell had a successful career spanning several decades and was known for his work in R&B, soul, and other genres.

One of Caldwell’s most popular songs was “What You Won’t Do for Love,” which reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has been covered by many artists, including Tupac Shakur. Caldwell toured with Natalie Cole to promote his album and surprised many black audience members when they learned he was white.

Caldwell’s debut album, which featured “What You Won’t Do for Love,” went double-platinum in 1978, cementing his place in music history. Unfortunately, Caldwell battled illness for several years before passing away in his sleep at his home in Great Meadows, New Jersey.

According to Caldwell’s wife, Mary, he passed away due to Fluoroquinolone toxicity, which was caused by an antibiotic he had been prescribed in 2017 that wreaked havoc on his body. Caldwell’s contributions to the music industry will always be remembered, and his passing is a great loss to the music community.
